Uconnect for 2018, its Most Powerful Yet Easiest to Operate Connectivity System Yet
First launched in 2003, Uconnect systems are widely considered among the most user-friendly in the industry. Uconnect provides drivers with a range of available communication, navigation, entertainment features, and connected services. Each year there have been important upgrades to the Uconnect system and 2018 is no different.
One exciting new features of Unconnect 4 for 2018 is the on-demand 4G Wi-Fi hotspot capability which provides faster upload and download speeds and more reliable in-vehicle wireless internet connectivity to your laptop, tablet or smartphone, supporting up to eight mobile devices. Uconnect4 2018 Upgrades in Detail
The Uconnect 4 infotainment system continues for the 2018 model year includes performance improvements with faster startup time and enhanced processing power, an 8.4-inch display that offers multi-touch gestures, vivid imagery, sharper graphics and the ability to support smartphone integrations, such as Apple CarPlay that enables iPhone users to access Apple Maps, Messages, phone and Apple Music through Siri Voice control or the Uconnect touchscreen. Uconnect 4 also features connectivity to Android Auto, which enables easy and safe access to Google voice search, Google Maps and Google Play Music.
Vehicle owners can access and control Uconnect system features and services through advanced voice recognition technology, convenient steering wheel controls, and intuitive touchscreens or traditional knobs and buttons. There's also the option of utilizing the Uconnect app and Vehicle Brand Owner Site to remotely deploy secure commands to the vehicle.
The Uconnect 4 system -- equipped with smartphone integrations of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto -- continues to be available in select 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango and Durango SRT, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT, and Renegade models.
Built-In Navigation System
The Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-inch display offers navigation standard, including 3-D imagery of landmarks, city models and digital terrain. Utilizing the large, 8.4-inch touchscreen, Uconnect navigation delivers directions, lane guidance and points of interest. The touchscreen supports multi-touch gestures with pinch, tap and swipe capability. The Uconnect 4 system features enhanced graphics and a one-step voice entry system so customers can easily say the address and navigate on the go.
SiriusXM Guardian Connected Services
SiriusXM Guardian Connected Services is now available in Canada for 2018 model-year Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, Chrysler 300 and Pacifica, and Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, and Renegade. With greater remote access and control, help is there when you need it.
Use the SiriusXM Guardian smartphone app to easily search, map and send locations directly to the vehicle's Uconnect Navigation system multiple destinations downloaded to your navigation screen.
Should the vehicle run out of fuel, get a flat tire or need a tow, pushing the Assist button can pinpoint vehicle location, sending help as quickly as possible.
In the event of a minor collision or injury, with SiriusXM Guardian a vehicle occupant can press the SOS button located on the rearview mirror to be connected to a trained call center agent who can send emergency assistance to the vehicle's location.
You can also utilize the Uconnect app on your smartphone to remotely start your vehicle to avoid a scorching hot seat or ice cold steering wheel. In addition, Uconnect 4 includes a drag and drop menu bar, Siri Eyes Free, a Do Not Disturb function, SiriusXM Tune Start and SiriusXM Radio.
SiriusXM Travel Link
Another handy feature is the SiriusXM Travel Link, designed to make every trip more efficient. SiriusXM Travel Link provides premium data services and information, and includes: weather, area fuel prices, sports, and movies, while SiriusXM Traffic works with the vehicle's navigation system to display live traffic speed and flow information, along with accident information to assist the driver in routing around accidents and other congested areas.
An included trial of connected services is available on properly- equipped versions of the vehicles listed above. These real-time services include a monthly vehicle health report; vehicle health alert.
