2017 Dodge Journey vs 2017 Ford Edge

2017 Dodge Journey vs 2017 Ford Edge

While we firmly believe, we only carry the best cars, trucks, crossovers, SUVs, and minivans at North York Chrysler; we understand that you need to do your due diligence. Because we are always looking for ways to support our customers, we thought it would be helpful to compare our amazing 2017 Dodge Journey with one of its competitors, the 2017 Ford Edge. Let's take a closer look at both.

2017 Dodge Journey

Few crossovers on the market are as versatile as the 2017 Dodge Journey. This powerful SUV comes in ten bold exterior colours, seating for up to seven, and six unique trim levels. Most trim levels are equipped with an impressive 2.4-liter DOHC Inline four-cylinder engine that produces 173 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 166 lb.-ft. of torque. You can take power to the next level by adding a 3.6-liter DOHC V6 engine puts out 283 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,400 rpm. Drivers will love the six-speed AutoStick shiftable automatic transmission, that gives you full control and offers up to 9.5 L/100 km highway and 14.2 L/100 km city in fuel efficiency.* Your ride is spectacular thanks to the fully independent suspension that includes front MacPherson struts and a rear multilink suspension. In addition to all of this performance, you can also tow up to 2,500 pounds (1,134 kg), so you never have to leave that boat or trailer home on your next big trip.
Because the odds are good you and your family will be spending lots of time in the 2017 Dodge Journey, the experts at Dodge have made it extremely safe thanks to a slew of standard features including:
  • Parksense Rear Park Assist System
  • Parkview Rear Back Camera
  • An innovative seven-airbag system that includes multistage front airbags, supplemental side-curtain airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, and a driver's knee airbag.
  • Advanced Brake System with four-wheel disc antilock brakes
Last, but certainly not least, the 2017 Dodge Journey keeps you and your passengers completely connected and fully entertained. If you choose, on some trims you can add the advanced Radio 8.4 multimedia centre that includes a largest-in-class 8.4-inch touchscreen as well as the Rear-Seat Video Group with DVD, which will keep even your most demanding passengers engaged and entertained.

2017 Ford Edge

While it is a decent SUV, it quickly becomes clear that the 2017 Ford Edge Crossover SUV falls short in some categories. It is only available in four trim levels and ten exterior colours, plus it only has room for five passengers. In a bit of head-scratcher, the 2017 Ford Edge offers less but cost significantly more than even the most basic 2017 Dodge Journey. The entry-level of this crossover comes in at $10,000 more than the base 2017 Dodge Journey trim, and stranger still it's not that much less expensive than the premium 2017 Dodge Journey Crossroad AWD.
When it comes to performance, the Ford Edge offers three engines, a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle activation, and electric power rack-and-pinion steering. Another disappointment is the standard 4.2-inch colour LCD screen in the centre stack, and even if you add the most advanced media system, the screen falls short of the 2017 Dodge Journey. Oh and if you're planning on doing any towing, the 2017 Ford Edge only comes with 2,000 pounds (907 kg) of towing power.
