Introducing The New 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock

2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock

The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 is now available as a special edition Classic Warlock model. Styling and naming are based on a series of factory-customized pickups produced between 1976 and 1979. Both classic and modern versions of the Warlock boast one-of-a-kind styling, powerful engine options, and a limited production run.

The original Dodge Warlock (1976 - 1979)

Black and gold colors were in vogue during the late 70s and early 80s - and the original Warlock wore them well. Many, though not all, of the classic pickup trucks were painted black; the wheels were gold-colored, as was the exterior pinstriping. Naturally, the Warlock name was written in gold on the tailgate. The pickup also sported oak sideboards on the bed that were considered stylish…at least during the disco era.Inside, all Warlocks sported a black interior with gold accents throughout. Like most other vehicles built in the 70s, conveniences were sparse. The radio, air conditioning, cruise control - even the clock - were optional, not standard, equipment.A long list of engine options - including everything from a slant-six to a big-block V8 - were offered under the hood. Buyers could choose between either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.Initially, the Warlock was supposed to be a one-off show vehicle. But it gathered enough interest that Dodge decided to produce it as part of the company's "adult toys" collection. Some other vehicles in the lineup included the "Street Van" custom version of the Dodge Tradesman van; Macho edition Ramchargers and Power Wagons; and the famous Lil' Red Express Truck.

The all-new Ram Warlock (2019)

Thankfully, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock doesn't share the same black and gold color scheme as the original model. Nor does it have the oak sideboards (once again, a good thing). What it does offer aesthetically is a distinctive front end, powder-coated bumpers and a one-inch lifted ride height. And, of course, there are Warlock decals affixed to the bedsides.Unlike the classic Warlock, which likely came with roll-up windows, the new version has a cabin full of amenities. Highlights include ParkSense rear park assist, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a digital instrument cluster and the Uconnect infotainment system with a touchscreen display. And what about the powertrain? Sorry, but there's no carbureted slant-six here. The modern Warlock is powered by one of two advanced engine options: a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 (305 hp, 269 lb.-ft.) or  5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine (395 hp, 410 lb.-ft.). Both choices mate to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard; four-wheel drive is available.Like the rest of the current Ram lineup, the Warlock can tow up to 12,750 lbs. when properly equipped. Plus, it has a 2,300 lb. payload rating.
