Cargo vans are the very backbone of businesses small, large and medium-sized, so they're pretty much the unsung heroes of the auto market. They may not get as much media coverage as the pickup trucks, but RamProMaster vans are also vitally important models for the brand's overall success. So, here's a look at what the 2019 Ram ProMaster range of cargo vans we can supply here at North York Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

2019 model year changes

There are probably three things that matter most for buyers when it comes to cargo vans, which are versatility, payload capability and towing ability. Instead of just some useful and impressive cosmetic enhancements, for 2019 Ram has also been upping the ante in these three vital areas with its ProMaster van range.

New models

For a start, there are now going to be three extra models in the Promaster family. All three new models sit on 136-inch wheelbases, but the ProMaster 2500 and 3500 cargo vans are low roof models while the 3500 variant is a high roof model.

Payload capacities

Payload is another area where Ram has been improving the ProMaster range with increases in capacity as high as 109 kg, and that means the maximum payload capacity of the range is now an impressive 2,123 kg. The ProMaster 1500 now has a maximum payload of 1,814 kg, the 2500 is now rated at 1,919 kg, and the 3500 is the one with that 2,123 kg rating. These improvements now mean the ProMaster boasts the highest standard available payload capacities in the segment in all three categories.

Towing

Ram has left out towing capability when it comes to its 2019 enhancements either. The full-size cargo van range sees its towing capability improve this year by as much as 30 percent. The maximum a ProMaster can now tow is 3,084 kg, and to further enhance ProMaster towing capability a new Trailer Tow Group is being made available by Ram that adds a Class IV receiver hitch with four- and seven-pin wiring harness.

Cosmetic enhancement

Although probably not as important to buyers as capability, versatility for upfitting and payload capacity, this model year's cosmetic enhancements are designed to keep ProMaster looking fresh in the modern workplace. The exterior styling of the popular Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City vans has been subtly enhanced and has now integrated the famous "RAM" grille theme that's been carried over from the brand's pickup truck line. Further aesthetic changes include new Black bumpers, side panels and optional Black steel wheels. Polycarbonate side rear windows have also now been made available on high-roof models, while side rear windows with steel grates are now available for low-roof models.
