It happens to everybody. One morning you get into your car whether it be a new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, FIAT or used car from another automaker, turn the ignition, and it doesn't start. Fortunately the most common reasons why cars don't start are easy to diagnose.
Try this five-step procedure to identify the most likely problem. In some cases you will be able to get your car going. At the very least you will be able to detail your situation for your greater Toronto Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM and FIAT service specialist.
One of the most common reasons is also one of simplest slip-ups to make. Safety interlocks are designed to make starting impossible if your automatic transmission is in any gear except PARK or NEUTRAL or if your clutch pedal isn't depressed (if manual transmission equipped).
If your lights and wipers work, you may be out of gas. Now all you need is an approved gas container and a ride to the gas station. If your lights and wipers do not work, skip ahead to TEST 4. If the lights are dim, or if the windshield wipers are slow, go to TEST 3.
