WARNING LIGHTS

(ABS) ---Antilock Warning Light
If the anti lock warning light comes back on immediately after starting or during driving it indicates that the anti-lock portion of your brake system is not functioning. Vehicles equipped with the (ABS), are also equipped with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD).

In the event of a failure, the Brake Warning Light will turn on along with the ABS Light. Immediate repair to the ABS system is required.

 ((!)) ----BRAKE
The brake warning light indicates one of three situations: the parking brake has not been released, the brake fluid is low, or you have a possible hydraulic system malfunction. If the light stays on after you top off the fluid, you probably have a brake malfunction. This is a serious problem and immediate repair is probably necessary.

[MIL]----Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
The Malfunction Indicator Light is part of an onboard diagnostic system called that monitors engine and automatic transmission control systems. The light will illuminate when the key is in the ON/RUN position before engine start. If the bulb does not come on when turning the key from OFF to ON/RUN, have the condition checked promptly.

(ESC) ----Electronic Stability Control Activation/ Malfunction Indicator Light
The "ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light" in the instrument cluster will come on
when the ignition switch is turned to the ON/RUN position. It should go out with the
engine running. If the "ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light" comes on continuously with the engine running, a malfunction has been detected in the ESC.

[OIL] ----Oil pressure Warning light

The oil Pressure Warning Light indicates that the engine oil pressure is dangerously low. If it comes on while you are driving, stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and shut off the engine. Do not operate the vehicle until the problem is corrected.

Check the oil level and add oil as necessary. If you run an engine without oil pressure even for less than a minute-you can seriously damage it.

[-  +] ----Charging system warning light
The charging system warning light indicates that the charging system is not working and your battery will soon be depleted. The most likely cause will be a broke or loose alternator belt or perhaps the alternator itself.

[Seat Belt]----Seat Belt Reminder Light
When the ignition switch is first turned to the ON/RUN position, this light will turn on for 4 to 8 seconds as a bulb check. f the driver's seat belt is unbuckled, a chime will sound. After the bulb check or when driving, if the driver or front passenger seat belt remains unbuckled, the Seat Belt Indicator Light will flash or remain on continuously.

[AIR BAG]----Air bag warning light
The air bag warning light indicates a system or component failure; however,a false alarm can also be generated by a circuit problem.

[Hill Decent]----Hill Decent Indicator
The symbol indicates the status of the Hill Decent Control (HDC) feature. The lamp will
be on solid when HDC is armed. HDC can only be armed when the transfer case is in the "4WD Low" position and the vehicle speed is less then 48 km/h. If these conditions are not met while attempting to use the HDC feature, the HDC indicator lamp will flash.

[Fog Light]----Front Fog Light Indicator
This indicator will illuminate when the front fog lights are on.

[High Beam]----High Beam Indicator
Indicates that headlights are on high beam.

[Fuel Door Reminder]----Fuel Door Reminder Light
The fuel pump symbol points to the side of the vehicle where the fuel door is located.

HOW CAN I LOOK AFTER MY BRAKES?

You should check your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or FIAT's brake fluid once a month. Look for the brake master cylinder on the upper right side of the engine compartment. You should be able to see the fluid level through the transparent tank. Brake fluid depletes very gradually, so if you notice a sharp drop, get your brake system checked.

"Brakes are a normal wear item for any car, so sooner or later they're going to need replacement."-Car Care council

We rely on our brakes to keep us out of trouble. Yet most of us know relatively little about how to look after the and how to recognize that they need attention. Here are some warning signs.

WHAT IS THAT SQUEAL?

If you hear a high-pitched noise while you are driving and without applying your brakes, it is usually a sign that your brake pads are worn down and need replacing.

WHAT IS THAT GRINDNG SOUND?

A metal on metal sound while applying your brakes usually means your brake pads are completely worn. This will damage your drums or rotors and markedly reduce braking effectiveness.

WHY IS MY VEHICLE PULLING TO ONE SIDE?

If your calipers are sticking or worn, it can cause your car to pull either left to right when you brake.

STEERING AND DRIVING SAFETY

Why is my steering pulling to left or right?

Your suspension may be out of alignment. Unequal tire pressure may also be the cause.

Why is the steering wobbling?

Your tires could be the problem. Check to see that your tire pressures are the same and inspect your tires for any damage. If you feel vibrations through the steering wheel, a tire may be out of balance.

Why is the steering suddenly heavy?

If it takes for effort to turn the wheel, you may have lost your power steering belt or run out of power steering fluid.

If you notice any of these warning signs, speak to your Chrysler, Jeep , dodge specialist immediately.

How do I look after my steering?

Outside of your scheduled maintenance visits, you should check your power steering fluid once a month.

Your owner's manual will show you where to find the power steering reservoir. There is a dipstick in the cap. Check to see if the fluid is within the correct range. If you have to add the fluid more then once a year,  You may have a leak.

STEERING AND DRIVING SAFETY

"If you have to add the fluid more then once or twice a year the you may want to get your system checked for leaks. These systems are easily damaged if you drive when the fluid is low.

Problems with your steering occur gradually sp pay attention to changes in the way your car handles, especially when you turn the wheel. Here are the most common warning signs.

WHAT IS THAT GROWLING NOISE?

If your steering growls when you turn the wheel, your power steering fluid may be low. You may have a leak in the power steering system.

WHAT IS THAT BUZZING?

If your steering buzzes when you turn at slow speeds, it may be caused by low power steering fluid.

WHAT IS THAT SQUEALING?

If you hear a high-pitched squeal, your drive belt is probably slipping on the power steering unit.

WHAT IS THAT MOANING?

If you hear a moaning sound when you turn the wheel, your power steering pump may be about to fail.

WHY IS IT DIFFICULT TO STEER?

If you have too much play or looseness in the steering, it may indicate worn parts.
